The Start of HOPE
Rebar, bricks, and a sand covered floor. It may not seem like a lot, but progress has begun on building HOPE Academy.
A Second Story Begins
Progress was briefly stalled when funds to build HOPE Academy ran out. Luckily, with the help of friends and family, we were able to start progress on the second floor. Builders have been busy adding bricks, framing out windows and doors, and installing a second story foundation. HOPE Academy will not only be a school, but will also feature a cafe where students can ensure their bellies are full to support their growing minds. It can be incredibly hard to focus and learn when you are starving, so HOPE Academy will ensure students receive needed sustenance.
A Roof Over Their Heads
Summer was busy at the future HOPE Academy. After receiving some generous donations, we were able to install a roof on the building! This will protect not just the computers that students work with, but will ensure the students stay dry during the rainy season and protected from the sun’s rays during the dry season. It has been amazing for us to watch this building transform over the last year from a flat bit of earth to this building. We can’t celebrate yet though! There is still a lot to do.
